Sometimes you just want to go shopping. Call it retail therapy, expanding your wardrobe, or window shopping, but sometimes the call of the shop is strong. Fortunately, if you’re in Virginia, there are loads of great options to quench your shopping thirst.
As the state capital it should come as no surprise that the River City is loaded with great shopping opportunities. Not even counting the loads of boutique stores in Carytown, Richmond has three major malls that are guaranteed to have the stores you’re looking for.
Short Pump Town Center is an open-air mall, so dress warmly if the weather is cold outside before going shopping. Regardless of the weather, Short Pump has a great selection of retail locations that are sure to have you coming back for more. Along with major stores like Dillard’s, Macy’s, and Nordstrom, Short Pump also is home to a two-story Crate & Barrel, making them a must-see location for anybody looking to furnish a home or fill out a wedding registry.
Much like Short Pump, Stony Point Fashion Park is an outdoor mall. With a Saks Fifth Avenue, Sur la Table, a Tiffany’s for that special someone, and fine dining locations like Fleming’s Steakhouse and Wine Bar. If you like to spend big on name-brand items, Stony Point is the only stop you’ll ever want to make.
Fortunately, Chesterfield Town Center is a covered mall, offering shops like Express, Victoria’s Secret, and Barnes & Noble all in a climate controlled environment, meaning you don’t have to worry about bundling up to go and do some shopping.
Just south of Richmond and north of Virginia Beach lies Newport News and Patrick Henry Mall. With anchor stores like JC Penney, Macy’s, and Dilliard’s, there’s a wide selection of clothing and products, along with plenty of places to grab a bite, ensuring that you’ll enjoy your shopping experience.
Traveling to Northern Virginia puts you within throwing distance of some of the best shopping malls on the East Coast, each with something to offer that will make you glad you stopped in.
Potomac Mills in Woodbridge is one of the largest outlet malls anywhere and offers a wide range of stores for every taste and budget, as well as a great workout thanks to it’s length of more than a mile end to end. Just to the north in Fairfax, Fair Oaks Mall is the perfect spot for those visiting George Mason University to get some shopping done.
Still further north we have both Tyson’s Corner Center and the Fashion Center at Pentagon City. Both are high-end, multi-level shopping meccas with every store imaginable available to swipe your credit card and take your cash, so no matter your taste, size, or preference in brand, they’ll have just what you need.
